  • The Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries are comprised of 96 libraries serving communities throughout the province. Membership and programs in all public libraries are free.

  • Members can borrow books, DVDs and other materials. Visit to search the library catalogue. If a book you are looking for is not available at your local library, a free interlibrary loan service will get the book from another library.

  • Most libraries offer free internet and computer access. E-books, tumblebooks, and electronic encyclopedias can be accessed online. 2000 titles on adult learning are available by interlibrary loan through the NLPL’s Literacy Clearinghouse.

  • Public Libraries also offer a wide variety of adult and family programming throughout the year. These include Newfoundland author readings, creative writing sessions, computer classes, story time, summer reading, music, crafts and more. Contact the library nearest you for information on current programming.
