Family Literacy Day

Family Literacy Day

Family Literacy Day, held annually on January 27, was developed by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 to celebrate adults and children reading and learning together, and to encourage Canadians to spend at least 15 minutes enjoying a learning activity as a family every day.

Provincial and Territorial Coalitions across Canada partner with ABC Life Literacy Canada to promote and support local family learning activities.

Literacy NL encourages community organizations schools and libraries to join with us again to celebrate Family Literacy Day® by submitting an order for materials.

Literacy NL sends family literacy day packages out to all schools, libraries, family programs, and other community based organizations requesting an order. These packages will be used to celebrate Family Literacy Day on or about January 27th.

The materials order form can be downloaded HERE . Materials can also be directly downloaded from the ABC Life Literacy Canada website.

Congratulations to Family Literacy Day 2013 contest winners!

Developed and hosted by NALD in collaboration with Literacy Newfoundland and Labrador.

This project is funded by the Government of Canada’s Office of Literacy and Essential Skills.
